Mikohn Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas said it received a $6.5 million interior and exterior signage contract at the Las Vegas Strip's Aladdin hotel-casino, set to open Aug. 17.
Mikohn will manufacture and install more than 300 interior visual displays for the casino and various sections of the 2,500-room hotel complex. Mikohn will also install three outdoor LED signs promoting the resort's "1001 Arabian Nights" theme.
The key of the Mikohn order is "Enchanted Garden" a 180-foot-wide visual promotion to be installed inside the property. The four-minute event will feature a huge flower wall growing and blooming to lights and music.
Mikohn also announced that plans to sell Mikohn Lighting Sign, its outdoor signage division, have fallen through. In March, Mikohn signed a letter of intent to sell the division to privately-held HIG Capital of Miami for $6.5 million.
"When we signed the letter of intent, we still had a few details to iron out," said Don Stevens, chief financial officer of Mikohn. "We did not come to an agreement on all those things, so by mutual agreement, we decided to go our own separate ways."
Stevens said Mikohn made the decision to sell after being approached by HIG, and said the company does not plan to put the division back up for sale. About 100 people work for Mikohn Lighting Sign.
