A state team has been assigned to help the 1,500 employees of the Desert Inn find new jobs when the resort closes Aug. 30.
The rapid response team of the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation will offer re-employment assistance to ease the transition for those workers being laid off. It will provide no-fee career transition and placement assistance for the employees.
Department Director Myla Florence said this is nothing new. "When mass layoffs happen, our team steps into provide a fast-track of re-employment assistance and employment insurance services for workers."
