Contractor’s Board revokes 10 licenses
Wednesday, July 5, 2000 | 11:14 a.m.
The Nevada State Contractor's Board revoked 10 contractors' licenses and took disciplinary action against eight other contractors during hearings last month.
The 10 contractors whose licenses were revoked are Commercial Concrete, Fabel Concrete Placement, Concrete Systems LLC, Rainbow Custom Pools, Palmer & Sons Inc., Ace Signs Inc., Robert V. Jones Corp., the Robert V. Jones Co., Sun Valley Plumbing and Mechanical and RVJC Electrical.
The board said the contractors' licenses were revoked for one or more of the following reasons: failing to establish financial responsibility, failing to respond to the board's written requests, failing to comply with contract terms and notices to correct defects and failing to pay for materials and labor.
The contractors couldn't be reached for comment.
Three contractors -- Cascade Pools Inc., Rainbow Homes and Desert Breeze Heating & Cooling -- had their licenses suspended.
The board said Cascade Pools' license was suspended partly because of 22 complaints filed by homeowners and subcontractors alleging violations of pool laws and regulations and substandard workmanship.
Five other contractors -- United Solar Energy Inc., Hudgens Landscaping, Disaster Kleen Up of Nevada doing business as Allied Flooring Services, Landscapes by Tim and Remington Homes Ltd. -- face fines and all except for United Solar were issued letters of reprimand.
They were accused of one or more violations including substandard workmanship, acting beyond the scope of a license, bidding in excess of license limits and failing to include the monetary limit of a license on a contract.
Ron Dahtak, United Solar's owner, said his company's license was renewed on June 6 and he plans to appeal a $7,000 fine imposed by the board.
