Metro to hold information meeting
Metro Police are holding a Neighborhood Watch information meeting 7 p.m. Thursday at Sunrise Library, 5400 Harris St.
Metro representatives will explain how to start watch groups in their neighborhoods, including how to obtain supplies and organize residents. For more information, call the department's Crime Prevention Detail at 229-3507.
Henderson program will start July 10
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a two-week youth drama workshop 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday from July 10 through July 21.
The workshop will be held at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. Participation is $90 per person, ages 7-17, per week. Participants must attend both weeks.
The workshop will be conducted by Deanna Duplechain, artistic director of the Nevada Theater Company. Duplechain and guest lecturers will lead participants through an intensive overview of all facets of the theater.

40-year celebration to honor Rev. Bennett
Zion United Methodist Church will celebrate Forty Years in the Desert honoring the Rev. Marion D. Bennett for 40 years as pastor of Zion beginning 6:30 p.m. Friday with the placing of an appreciation plaque.
On Saturday a Feast in the Desert reception will begin 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. at the Riviera hotel-casino. A service will conclude the weekend at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church, 2108 Revere St. in Las Vegas. For more information, call Clara Scott at 648-7806.
Law Enforcers for Equal Rights
of Nevada invites all local law enforcement officers to the Recruitment 2000 Kickoff/Barbecue 1-5 p.m. Saturday at Bunker Park, at Tenaya Way and Alexander Road. The goal is to facilitate the entry of women and minorities into law enforcement. Call Tamia L. Dow at 615-6951.
