A father and son have been arrested in separate incidents in Norwich, Conn., within days of each other and a large amount of money is a factor in both investigations.
Three days after state police arrested a Mohegan Sun employee and charged him with stealing nearly $100,000 from the casino, police seized $410,000 in cash from his son's home.
Police seized the cash and computer equipment from the home of Timothy J. Gahner, 21, Monday.
The cash was seized after police searched the property after charging Gahner with first-degree sexual assault and first-degree unlawful restraint, following an alleged attack on a woman in Gahner's home.
On Friday, state police charged Gahner's father, Harlan G. Gahner, 54, an employee at the Mohegan Sun casino, with first-degree larceny. He was seen stashing nearly $100,000 in cash into his overalls while working in a casino money-counting room, police said.
Bond for the elder Gahner was posted and he is due back in Superior Court July 13.
The younger Gahner was being held on a $500,000 bond and was to be arraigned in Norwich Superior Court Wednesday.
Police would not say if there was a direct connection between the two arrests.
