Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport ranked as the world's seventh-busiest airport in 1999, according to a study by the Geneva-based Association of World Airports.
The study, produced annually by Airports Council International, included 597 airports worldwide. The study ranked airports based on total landings and takeoffs by private and commercial planes.
Atlanta was the world's busiest airport in 1999, followed by Chicago O'Hare and Dallas-Fort Worth. Phoenix placed fifth.
Four California airports made the top 25 ranking: Los Angeles (fourth), Oakland (eighth), Long Beach (12th), John Wayne in Newport Beach (18th).
