AG weighs in on airline mergers
Monday, July 3, 2000 | 11:16 a.m.
Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa sent a letter to the antitrust division of the U.S. Justice Department saying the proposed merger of United Airlines and US Air may be detrimental to air service in Nevada.
Del Papa said that while the United-US Air deal alone may not have much affect in Nevada, it could lead to more mergers that could stifle competition.
She said that if Delta Air Lines bought Continental, and American bought Northwest, just three airlines would control 85 percent of the market.
