Letter: Police presence is nonexistent

Sunday, July 2, 2000 | 10:45 a.m.

We pay taxes like everyone else in Clark County, and we do not even know if the state police or the Highway Patrol or Metro Police is supposed to oversee this area. We never see anyone over here. All it would take is some enforcement and a few tickets, and word would get around -- but no one cares.

Commissioner Bruce Woodbury, of District A, has not responded. The speed limit needs to be lowered. Garbage is all over the sides of the road, and the road is in terrible shape. Not one improvement in five years except that everybody does just what they want.

The city of Mesquite takes pride in its city. But we in Bunkerville can't because the ones who are paid to do their job, simply put, just don't do it.

It's unfair, and we wonder if the Clark County officials' neighborhoods are in the shape this place is? The ones responsible need to do their jobs. We had a death on this road a few months ago.
