Sun Flashbacks: Sun got scoop on Frank-Mia wedding

Mike Gordon, Sun photographer during the 1960s and '70s, recalls the paper's coverage of the 1966 wedding of Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow at the Sands.
Hank Greenspun arranged for a Sun reporter and photographer to cover the event exclusively while the rest of the world's media waited outside the resort in hopes of getting a quick shot of the couple departing.
"The wedding was very short and Frank didn't even kiss Mia -- in fact, I was the first person he spoke to after saying 'I do.' He walked toward me and said: "I'm going to have a Jack Daniels and water -- how about you?"
"I was 19 years old and the camera was shaking around my neck and in my hands, and I said, 'No thank you sir.' Today, no problem -- I'd have that drink with someone like him in a second. After all, Jack Daniel's and water is my drink."
Today, Mike Gordon is the owner of two Las Vegas bars -- Frankie's and Calico Jack's.
