Motorists on Interstate 80 over Donner Summit faced delays Sunday afternoon of up to three hours because of a lack of tow trucks to remove vehicles involved in spinouts and accidents.
Chains or snow tires were still required early today on I-80, as well as on U.S. 50 over Echo Summit, the Mount Rose Highway southwest of Reno and on all other trans-Sierra roadways.
No major accidents were reported.
Kirkwood Ski resort reported up to 2 feet of snow at the higher elevations early today. Alpine Meadows said it received anywhere from 10 inches to 14 inches.
A chance of rain or snow remained in the forecast through the end of the week, the National Weather Service said.
In valleys of western Nevada received mostly rain, though some areas picked up a dusting of snow.
