Metro officer who fired shotgun ID'd
A Metro Police officer who fired two shotgun blasts at a gunman who had just pistol-whipped a driver of a coin truck during an apparent robbery last week was identified this morning as Sgt. Clint Robison.
The shotgun blasts missed the gunman, but officers were able to arrest three people in connection with the robbery Wednesday at about 10 p.m., police said
The three, Stephan Blaylock, 18, Michael Glenn, 25, and Tony Taylor, 21, were charged with robbery with a weapon and conspiracy, and may be charged in more of the recent coin truck robberies, police said.
Robison, a 16-year veteran, was one of several Repeat Offender Unit detectives following the three men Wednesday night waiting to see if they would try to rob a truck belonging to a slot machine route operator.
Tractor-trailer hits man on Flamingo Road
A man died Saturday after apparently stepping off the curb in front of a tractor-trailer on Flamingo Road.
The man appeared to wait until the truck, driven by Richard Smith, 37, of Las Vegas, was almost at his location before stepping out in front of the truck about 4:30 p.m. He was struck by the front of the truck and pronounced dead at scene, Metro Police said.
The accident is still under investigation, police said. The Clark County coroner's office was still trying to determine the man's identity this morning.

Veterans Memorial to undergo changes
Crews are scheduled to begin work Tuesday on a flood control system and roadway improvements on Veterans Memorial Drive just north of Bonanza Road as part of a larger project that includes roadway improvements on Bonanza Road between Veterans Memorial Drive and Main Street.
The Bonanza Road and Main Street projects may require temporary road closures in the later stages of the project, the city of Las Vegas Public Works Department said. Washington and Stewart avenues are suggested as alternate routes for east-west travel when road work on Bonanza begins.
