Letter: LV resort wins four-diamond award
Monday, Jan. 31, 2000 | 11:47 a.m.
Mirage Resorts' other three Las Vegas properties -- Golden Nugget, Bellagio and Mirage -- already have four-diamond ratings, as do the Desert Inn, Caesars Palace and the Las Vegas Hilton. The Treasure Island rating will boost the Las Vegas total to seven, surpassing Chicago.
In November, the Four Seasons hotel at Mandalay Bay became Southern Nevada's first five-diamond hotel, achieving the honor in less than a year of operations.
Mirage spent more than $65 million upgrading rooms and other facilities at Treasure Island over the past two years. AAA rates the quality of accommodations and service in making its awards.
Mirage Chairman Steve Wynn and Treasure Island President Bill McBeath will be joined by AAA officials and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority President Manny Cortez in a news conference Tuesday to discuss the new rating.
