Carson City brings “deadbeat dad” back into court
Monday, Jan. 31, 2000 | 9:54 a.m.
William Mantik of Reno, who's accused of violating conditions of his probation by drinking alcohol, is scheduled to appear Monday in Carson District Court.
A Carson City jury convicted Mantik in December 1997. He owed nearly $95,000 in back support and penalties for his three children, who live in Washington.
Abstaining from alcohol became a condition of probation after his attorney said Mantik couldn't work and make payments because he was an alcoholic.
Mantik still owes nearly $88,000 in child support, but hasn't paid since October. He entered a management training program at a Wendy's restaurant, but is no longer employed there.
