Park official says dog owners need play area

Jeff Mann with Reno Parks and Recreation said dogs running loose in parks and leaving waste where people walk or jog is becoming a problem in the city.
One solution is to give dogs their own space, he said.
Mann has proposed a one-acre area at Whitaker Park in northwest Reno be fenced off for an off-leash dog park.
He also wants to provide plastic disposable bags at all Reno parks to encourage owners to pick up after their dogs.
The proposal has been endorsed by a citizen's advisory board.
