LVMS to host open house on Feb. 19
Friday, Jan. 28, 2000 | 9:34 a.m.
Race fans attending a Feb. 19 open house at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be treated to free tours of the entire facility, discounts from the Richard Petty Driving Experience, discounted concessions and merchandise, special ticket deals and go-kart rides courtesy of Las Vegas Mini Gran Prix.
This is the second consecutive year that the speedway has conducted an open house, giving race fans an inside look at the speedway and a head start on the 2000 racing season.
The open house is set to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There also will be several big-screen televisions set up during the morning hours for fans to watch the NASCAR Busch Series race from Daytona International Speedway. The go-kart rides will begin immediately following the conclusion of the race from Daytona.
"Last year, we had an overwhelming response from race fans in Las Vegas and beyond for our open house," LVMS general manager Chris Powell said.
"This year, we have made it bigger and better. Thanks to Las Vegas Mini Gran Prix, fans will get their own chances to go fast at this year's open house."
There also will be special ticket deals for fans attending the open house. Anyone purchasing four tickets to either the CarsDirect.com 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race or the Sam's Town 300 NASCAR Busch Series race will receive a choice of a 10 percent discount coupon from the speedway's gift shop or half price on tickets for Bud Pole Day, which will be held Friday, March 3.
The track tours will take race fans around the facility including the garage area, new dragway and the suite level. There also will be drawings for tickets for the upcoming NHRA national event on April 6-9 as well as the Indy Racing League event on April 22.
"We want this to become an annual event where all race fans can come out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and have a day that will be filled with racing and fun for the entire family," Powell said.
