Track: Walt Disney World Speedway (tri-oval, 1 mile, 10 degrees banking in turn 1, 8.5 degrees in turn 2, 7 degrees in turn 3).
Race distance: 200 miles, 200 laps.
Last year: Orlando native Eddie Cheever won the season-opening event, beating Scott Goodyear by 5.148 seconds.
Fast facts: Tony Stewart, now in his second year on the NASCAR circuit, won the 1998 race. ... Buzz Calkins set the race record of 128.325 mph in 1996. ... Cheever also won in 1997 at Walt Disney World Speedway. ... This is the fifth year for the IRL, and fifth season-opening start in Lake Buena Vista. ... Greg Ray won the 1999 Indy Racing League Championship by 37 points over 1998 champ, Kenny Brack. ... Calkins has been running at the finish of the last 11 races, an IRL record.
