Republic Services Inc., the trash hauler led by billionaire Wayne Huizenga, said fourth quarter earnings rose 10 percent as revenue grew from additional landfills.
The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., company owns Silver State Disposal Service in Las Vegas.
Republic said net income rose to $52.5 million or 30 cents a share from $47.61 million or 27 cents in the year-ago period. Revenue rose 30 percent to $488.8 million as the nation's No. 3 trash company added 12 landfills, 17 transfer stations and expanded into 18 additional markets since late 1998.
