Letter: Animals deserve to be protected

I have a sweet pet dog whom I truly cherish. She brings me great joy. I hope my dog will always be protected. I believe these people that kill the horses do it for the thrill and pleasure of it. Maybe it is like a game to them. It is terrible the way they make those horses suffer before they die. Horses deserve a good and long life. We are all God's creatures.

I really hope they apprehend these criminals and give them the stiffest possible sentence. Even one person, who helps the animals, can make a big difference in the life of a poor defenseless animal. They depend on human beings.

There are crusaders in defending animal rights, some are movie stars. Kim Basinger, Doris Day and Pamela Anderson are among a few who work for animal rights.

I admire them a great deal. They want animals to have a better life.

Animals deserve a better life, and need more protection against vicious crimes, like any other living being.
