Rogich to pen state of union GOP response

Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000 | 10:44 a.m.

Longtime Las Vegas political adviser Sig Rogich has been selected to co-write the Republican response to President Clinton's State of the Union Thursday night.

A spokesman for Rogich Communications Group, confirmed today that Rogich will help Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine and Bill Fritz, R-Tenn., write the response.

Clinton's speech before both houses is expected to introduce policy proposals in areas such as gun control, patient rights, tuition relief, minimum wage increases, job discrimination and Medicare reform.

Rogich has helped get elected such figures as current Republican Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn.

Rogich, a former member of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, was media coordinator for the presidential campaigns of both Ronald Reagan and George Bush. He also served under Bush as U.S. Ambassador to Iceland, his country of birth.
