TUNICA, Miss. -- Fitzgeralds Gaming Corp. plans to add a 500-space parking garage to its hotel-casino in Tunica County, Miss., in the first stage of bold expansion plans, a newspaper reported today.
The Commercial Appeal of Memphis, Tenn., reported that Fitzgeralds will start construction on the garage within a month. The project is expected to cost about $5 million, and is expected to be complete by this summer.
The property is considering additional expansions, including a riverwalk dock, a riverboat ride, and a 500-room expansion.
Dominic Mezzetta, general manager of Fitzgeralds-Tunica, said he hopes to complete the dock and riverboat ride by early 2001. Within 18 to 24 months, he said, the hotel-casino may start construction on the 500-room expansion, which would double the number of rooms at the property.
The Tunica property is owned and operated by Fitzgeralds Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas, owner of the Fitzgeralds hotel-casino in downtown Las Vegas.
