Letter: School district needs new leaders
Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000 | 9:58 a.m.
First of all, I don't believe that breaking up the district will solve anything and will cost the taxpayers millions more to operate additional districts. The solution is to get rid of those in power and replace them with people who know what they are doing.
My opinion of Assemblywoman Sandra Tiffany is that she is grandstanding and, like so many politicians in Henderson, is on the bandwagon for making Henderson the largest city in the state. Beware, these tactics will eventually cost you -- the taxpayer -- a bundle.
We complain about vehicle registration fees being too high. It's not the registration fees that are high; break up the district and you'll really see higher registration fees since the schools are supported in part by those fees. Then you'll also see higher property taxes.
Remember, all this still won't guarantee better education just because there would be more districts. They are only as good as the leadership. Too bad the Air Force general didn't take the job.
