Burglary suspect dies from knife wound

A 25-year-old knife-wielding man who is accused of breaking into an apartment Monday night died this morning after being stabbed by the resident of the apartment, Metro Police said.
The 25-year-old man apparently pushed his way into an apartment in the 300 block of East Harmon Avenue about 10 p.m. Monday. A 26-year-old male resident struggled with the intruder. The intruder dropped the knife during the struggle and the resident was able to pick it up, police said.
The intruder fled from the apartment but was apparently stabbed twice. The resident chased after the suspect, but apartment security caught up with both men and held them until Metro officers arrived, police said.
The intruder, who was charged with burglary, battery and battery with a deadly weapon, was taken to University Medical Center, but died this morning about 4:30. His name was not released this morning pending the notification of his family.
The case will be submitted to the Clark County district attorney's office for review, police said.
