Future Reno postal hub sought by Calif. airport

But the postal service so far has refused to accept the proposal by Mather Airport, which used to be Mather Air Force Base until it closed in 1993.
"It's been no secret that we'd like them to be here," Mather Manager Larry Kozub said. "It's also no secret they would rather be in Reno.
"We're going to let that play out. But if it falls apart (in Reno), we're here to help."
A postal service spokeswoman declined comment.
The agency is sorting through about 600 public comments it received on its draft environmental assessment for the proposed $5.9 million Reno hub.
The plan has drawn strong opposition from south Reno residents under the airport's flight path. They complain the hub would lead to too many noisy flights late at night.
