Bandits run streak to 11

Friday, Jan. 21, 2000 | 10:34 a.m.

The Las Vegas Silver Bandits extended the International Basketball League's longest winning streak to 11 games, edging the St. Louis Swarm 106-105 Thursday night in Missouri.

The Silver Bandits overcame a 13-point St. Louis lead in the fourth quarter to earn the win and move ahead of the Swarm and into second place in the IBL West Division standings.

"The confidence that they have in each other gives this team courage," said Silver Bandits head coach Rolland Todd. "It wasn't one person winning this game for us, everyone took turns making big plays. It was a good team demonstration tonight."

Las Vegas had to play without leading scorer J.R. Henderson and forward DeeAndre Hulett. Henderson was resting a sore right knee, while Hulett is recovering from a minor toe injury.

Harold Ellis was hot coming off the bench again and was the game's high scorer with 24 points. Marcus Liberty added a season-high 19 points.

The Silver Bandits and the Swarm will play again in St. Louis on Saturday before both teams travel to Las Vegas for a Sunday night game at the Thomas & Mack Center. Tickets are available at the T&M box office, by logging on to www.tickets .com or by calling the Silver Bandits at 938-3838.
