Spring 2000 Fashions show to take place
UNLV's Division of Continuing Education is holding an education fair and Spring 2000 Fashions show in the food court of the Galleria at Sunset mall from noon-3 p.m. Saturday.
UNLV's Certificate in Fashion Design program will be featured at the show. In addtion, the event will be marked by special demonstrations by program instructors on sewing illustration, fashion design, fabric design and apparel design. For more information, call 895-3394.
Grantsmanship Training Program offered
The North Las Vegas Library District is hosting a Grantsmanship Training Program to help members of the nonprofit community and government agencies learn the intricacies of the grant-seeking process. The training will take place from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Jan. 28 at 2300 Civic Center Drive, North Las Vegas.
The five-day workshop which will be conducted by the Grantsmanship Center -- the world's oldest and largest training organization for the nonprofit sector-- is designed for both novice and experienced grant-seekers. It will cover all aspects of searching for grants, writing grant proposals and negotiating with funding sources. Tuition for the course is $675. Registration is limited to 26 participants. Sailors to change meeting location
The LST Association of Nevada has changed the location of its meetings. All meetings of the amphibious sailors group will be in the auditorium of the Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic, 1700 Vegas Drive.
The next scheduled meeting will be Sunday at noon. For more information, call 382-1340.
Secret Service to address women's group
Mary Brooks of the U.S. Secret Service will speak to the Desert Sands Business and Professional Women on women in the Secret Service.
The talk will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Marie Callendar's Restaurant, 4875 W. Flamingo Road. For more information call 642-1552 or 658-5965.
Just a little winter reminder
The Southern Nevada Water Authority asks residents and businesses to set sprinkle clocks to water between the hours of 9 and 11 a.m. to avoid ice that forms on sidewalks or driveways.
The water authority suggests that lawns be watered only two days a week -- two times each day between 9 and 11 a.m. at four minutes each watering. For a free lawn watering guide, call 258-7283.
