Citizen Review Board a go
Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000 | 10:03 a.m.
The Las Vegas City Council, after months of wrangling, has passed an ordinance to create a Metropolitan Police Citizen Review Board.
The city will pay nearly $57,000 of the projected annual cost, with Clark County paying $77,000.
The board has been three years in the making.
The panel was prompted by the 1996 drive-by shooting of 21-year-old Daniel Mendoza by former Metropolitan Police Officer Ron Mortensen.
Mayor Oscar Goodman has criticized the panel as too weak.
