Bankruptcy ties up pay for former workers at gold mine
Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000 | 11:57 a.m.
Mineral Ridge Resources Inc. closed its small gold mining operation in central Nevada more than a month ago. But about 75 workers who lost their jobs still have not been paid for their last 1 1/2 weeks of work or unused vacation time.
The mined closed because of poor quality ore and a continued slump in gold prices. The miners' pay is tied up in bankruptcy court. Mineral Ridge Resources reports nearly $14.7 million in debt.
