Shooting the third for Metro officer
Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000 | 12:04 p.m.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say an officer who was involved in a shooting following a car chase Sunday had been involved in two other shootings.
Police have identified the officers involved as Robert Johnson, 39, and William Wilson, 29.
Police say Johnson was involved in a shooting in November 1996 at the Blue Diamond Truck Stop and another in August 1999.
In both prior incidents, the department's Use of Force Board ruled the shootings were justified.
Mark Simonich was shot early Sunday when he emerged from a car following a chase with what was later determined to be a BB gun that looked like a revolver.
Simonich is recovering at University Medical Center.
