O’Connell collects nearly $90,000 for state Senate race

Reports on file Wednesday at the secretary of state's office show O'Connell started 1999 with $15,105, and over the course of the year picked up another $89,762. She didn't list any expenses.
Other reports from state lawmakers included:
Reports filed last week included one from Assembly Speaker Joe Dini, D-Yerington, who hasn't said whether he'll run again. He collected $12,700 since the close of the 1999 Legislature.
After the November 1998 election, Dini had $57,988 in unspent campaign funds. But in 1999 he used a good part of that for office expenses and contributions to nonprofits groups. He ended the year with $23,586.
Other early reports included one from Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio, R-Reno, who collected $12,000 in contributions after the 1999 Legislature. That's in addition to the $81,781 Raggio had left over from the last campaign.
Other early filers included Assemblywoman Marcia de Braga, D-Fallon, who collected $10,750 last year.
Nevada law requires the reports from anyone who collects campaign contributions in excess of $10,000 in the year before an election.
