LV real estate firm laying off 33 workers

Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000 | 10:52 a.m.

Las Vegas-based Saxton Inc. is laying off 33 local employees -- equivalent to 20 percent of its Las Vegas office corporate staff -- as part of a cost reduction plan.

Chief Executive Officer James Saxton said the cuts were necessary in order to improve the company's operating performance.

"Our overhead cost structure needs to be reduced to be more closely aligned with projected revenues," said Saxton.

Saxton develops real estate projects in several Southwestern markets, including Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson, Salt Lake City and Reno.
