The sixth annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, the first major motorsports race of year, gets under way Thursday evening with a pair of events unique to off-road racing.
The weekend festivities start with Thursday's extremely popular $25,000 Laughlin Leap and Pit Crew Showdown. The Pit Crew battle will begin at 5 p.m. at the Laughlin Special Events Stadium and will be followed by the Laughlin Leap.
On Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., fans can meet and greet their favorite racers and check out their high-tech racing machines at the manufacturers' midway and technical inspection held in the start/finish line area.
The race itself is split into two days of action on Saturday and Sunday, with the 16 classes for desert race cars and exotic race trucks divided into six groups for six separate races each day.
