Phoenix-based Del Webb Corp. plans an advertising campaign to establish Sun City developments as the nation's top adult retirement communities.
The company, which has three Sun City communities in the Las Vegas area, will advertise in Modern Maturity, Reader's Digest, Time, Newsweek, New Choices and Better Homes and Gardens magazines. Television ads initially will run in Chicago, Seattle and Los Angeles with more cities to be announced in late 2000.
The company did not announce how much it intends to spend, but said it is "a multimillion-dollar campaign."
"Just as Kleenex means tissues, Del Webb and Sun City will come to describe our distinct active lifestyle," said Gary Newman, Del Webb's vice president of marketing.
