Officer Chuck Owens, a 15-year veteran of the force, remains hospitalized at Barton Hospital with a broken arm, shattered elbow and internal injuries.
California Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Jones said Owens pushed the woman to safety Monday when the huge truck slid out of control on an icy road.
Owens had been helping the woman out of a car in an earlier crash and was struck by the sliding truck on Pioneer Trail in South Lake Tahoe.
