New division to coordinate e-commerce

America West Airlines formed a division to develop the company's Internet and e-commerce opportunities.

J. Scott Kirby, currently the airline's vice president of revenue management, will head what has been called the e-business division as a vice president.

America West, which carries the second highest number of passengers to Las Vegas' McCarran International and has a hub at the airport, will use the new division to provide additional opportunities for customers to buy seats and vacation packages on the Internet.

The division also will be used for developing purchasing and procurement by the airline.
