Las Vegas is one of three cities from which Southwest Airlines will provide nonstop service to and from Albany, N.Y., beginning May 7, the Dallas-based airline said today.
In a surprise announcement, Southwest said it would fly directly between Albany and Las Vegas, Baltimore and Orlando, Fla. Initially, the airline plans one round trip a day between McCarran International Airport and New York's capital.
Southwest announced its Albany service earlier this month, but did not say where it would fly directly.
Fares for flights between Las Vegas and Albany will range from $198 round trip on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays on tickets purchased in advance during an initial sale, to $616 round trip for an unrestricted ticket.
Albany will be Southwest's 35th nonstop destination from Las Vegas. The airline currently averages 149 daily departures from McCarran and is the airport's largest carrier.
