Authorities admit they're stumped in their search for a missing 7-year-old Las Vegas girl. Police have been searching for Karla Rodriguez for four months.
"We are still hoping she is alive and well someplace," said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Lt. Tom Monahan.
Monahan acknowledged that the investigation into the girl's disappearance has focused recently on trying to determine whether any unidentified dead children across the country could be Karla.
"It is a morbid and unfortunate circumstance, but now we have to look at the unidentified dead bodies nationwide," Monahan said.
Karla disappeared without a trace Oct. 20 She was last seen by her mother as she walked to an elementary school. An extensive search for the girl has turned up nothing.
