Fallon will get its bulletproof vests

The city is one of 11 law enforcement jurisdictions in Nevada to receive federal Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grants.
The vests cost $520 each, but the federal assistance means officers will have to pay only $261 out of their own pockets, Sgt. Vern Ulrich said.
Police officers hired by the city are provided with a uniform and equipment but must replace those items as they wear out through an annual allowance of $800, Ulrich said.
"For a regular officer, the only thing the city furnishes is the patch and the radio," he said.
