Same-day abbreviated editions of the world's top newspapers will be available daily in Las Vegas later this year.
New York-based PressPoint distributed its portfolio of 25 international publications at the Consumer Electronics Show and Comdex.
A spokesman said PressPoint will distribute abbreviated editions of newspapers based in Washington, Miami, London, Sydney, Hong Kong and other locations. Publications will be available through individual subscription or at retail newsstands, hotels and convention areas.
Editors of the newspapers that contribute to the PressPoint portfolio will send editions of their papers in a compressed computer file over phone lines to Las Vegas, where they will be produced on 11-by-17-inch sheets of printer paper.
PressPoint offered the service at the two large technology conventions in Las Vegas recently and will begin daily service in the city by mid-2000. Subscriptions will have varying rates.
