Henderson recreation to host workshop
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a healthy-back workshop 12:30 p.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway.
Participation is open to those 16 years of age or more for $15 each.
The workshop instructor will explore the contributing factors leading to back pain. Measures of prevention and symptom management will also be discussed and demonstrated.
Participants are asked to wear loose-fitting clothing to class. For additional information, call 435-3814.
Students can enter science project in contest
Clark County middle school science students have a chance to compete in a Solar Energy Science Contest.
Sponsored by the Corporation for Solar Technology and Renewable Resources, the contest is looking for innovative ideas for everyday usage of solar technology.
Students are required to build a model of their science project and provide a one or two page description of the use for solar energy.
Projects must be submitted March 6. First place will receive a $100 savings bond, second place a $75 savings bond and third place a $50 savings bond.

Snowflake Dance scheduled on Saturday
The Snowflake Dance is being offered for seniors 55 and over at 6:30 p.m. Saturday by the Las Vegas Senior Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road.
Music will be by Joe Geremia. Light refreshments will be served. Cost is $3. For more information, call 229-6454.
Cousteau to speak about oceans' future
Jean-Michel Cousteau, ocean explorer, environmentalist and president of the Ocean Futures Society, will discuss the organization's role in preserving the ocean environment in a speech on Wednesday.
The talk will be delivered at 2:30 p.m. at the Diving Equipment and Marketing Association trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Immunizations
Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 36 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, Jan. 19 - 25:
