Letter: New Year’s Eve big disappointment
Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 | 9:30 a.m.
For the past 21 years we have spent New Year's Eve in Las Vegas. Over the years our family has come to find many diverse interests in Las Vegas.
We always felt like we were treated with respect and dignity in years past. Our children have come to grow and love the same atmosphere that has attracted us.
But this year was a severe disappointment. The Strip was well organized -- that was terrific. Yet where was the celebration? Everyone was waiting for the spectacular.
Although the restaurants doubled their prices -- as did everyone -- that was still acceptable. But the service was decreased as well as the variety. I have never celebrated New Year's at home or with a television, yet that seemed to have had more to offer. So much for Las Vegas.
We usually go to Las Vegas three to four times a year and bring visitors, for fun and relaxation. If New Year's Eve was a reflection of the new way, then Las Vegas is a place where you can go to have fun losing your money but forget having fun in any other way. The only service left is at the tables in the casinos -- everything else is a disappointment.
I hope you change. I guess when you're the best you don't have to try hard. Well, there are other places to go. Have a great new year reflecting on your ways and means.
