Letter: He can recruit but can’t coach
Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 | 12:31 p.m.
I have been a diehard Rebel fan for some time. When Bill Bayno was first hired, I was very supportive of him and I feel I gave him a fair chance. Since the '96-97 season, however, Bayno's teams have constantly struggled with confidence and chemistry and they've underachieved.
Bayno has proved he can recruit. He brings in good talent year after year, including Keon Clark, Tyrone Nesby, Shawn Marion, and nearly Lamar Odom. However, talent does not matter if a team cannot win.
I just wish the athletic department was as anxious to get Bayno out as they were Jerry Tarkanian.
