Letter: Fan defends Rebel slate

Thanks to Ron Kantowski for pointing out the obvious. Why would the coach beat up his team in the press? Your delusions are bordering the ridiculous. The team finally has a schedule that will allow the Rebels to get into the NCAA Tournament.
Other than the Oklahoma State game, did anyone feel they were going to beat Cincinnati or North Carolina?
When UNLV played in the Big West, the league was creampuff city. Playing Utah twice, New Mexico twice (granted, they are weak this year) and at Colorado State and Wyoming is certainly difficult.
You seem to place way too much attention on the coach. If I was to take your column literally, a better coach would be getting better results, right? Then what has happened to your coach Jerry Tarkanian? If he was so good, what has happened to his Fresno State team?
You have a young coach who deserves the opportunity and the time to build a solid program.
