Letter: Bayno can’t coach, recruit
Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 | 12:30 p.m.
Bill Bayno said he had a five-year plan to rebuild UNLV basketball into one of college basketball's elite programs. He has all the recruiting tools at his disposal, such as a beautiful arena, state-of-the-art athletic facilities, and the city of Las Vegas. But the blue-chippers are wary because word is out that Bayno can't coach.
Young athletes who see the NBA in their future pick colleges where the coach helps propel them into a high lottery pick. Bayno does not have a reputation for doing so.
Face it: Bayno has lost his recruiting touch, he can't coach, and he's failed in reaching his goals.
