Bank merger finalized

Nevada State Bank and Pioneer Citizens Bank finalize the integration of their banks today. The move comes despite a delay in the merger between Nevada State parent Zions Bancorporation and First Security Corp., both of Salt Lake City.
As part of the consolidation, the Pioneer Citizens branch at 460 N. Stephanie Street in Henderson will close; customer accounts will move to the Nevada State branch at 1051 W. Warm Springs Road.
Bank officials say today's integration of banking systems provides customers access to 58 branches and 67 ATMs statewide.
In the meantime, Zions spokeswoman Leslie Nielsen disputed a news report that the bank would lay off up to 700 employees following the First Security merger.
"As yet, we haven't confirmed the number of layoffs, and won't be able to until we receive shareholders' approval for the merger," she said.
