Guinn wants prompt services billing to state

CARSON CITY -- Gov. Kenny Guinn wants merchants, attorneys and others to bill the state promptly for their services, rather than waiting anywhere from six months to a year.
Guinn suggested there be a time limit for the bills to be submitted or they would not be paid.
The issue arose when the Board of Examiners considered old claims against the state. There was a bill for $2,235 from fiscal 1998 from Mineral County for detention costs for a youth, and a bill from last fiscal year for $2,858 for repairing a cell door at the Southern Desert Correctional Center.
Guinn says he worries about people or firms that don't bill within six weeks.
