The content manager for AccessArizona.com, Cox Interactive Media's Internet site in Phoenix, was named city site manager of the company's Las Vegas property.
Claudine Langan will lead the Las Vegas studio's efforts to launch a CIMedia city website that offers a local and national search engine, local news, weather and sports. The site also will offer lists of community events of Las Vegas organizations.
CIMedia is a subsidiary of Cox Communications Inc. of Atlanta, which owns the dominant cable television franchise in Las Vegas.
CIMedia last summer announced plans to launch a Las Vegas site with 10 employees in October. A company spokesman said it hasn't been determined when the site will be launched and what its name will be.
During Langan's tenure, AccessArizona.com became one of CIMedia's leading city sites and was often the first site in CIMedia's network to implement new company programs. In 1998, AccessArizona.com earned CIMedia's Icon Award for Best Overall Site because of its exceptional revenue, page views, innovation, execution and overall effectiveness.
CIMedia enters a crowded arena in Las Vegas where several Internet city sites are operating, including the Greenspun family's vegas.com site, which includes the Las Vegas Sun; and the Las Vegas Review-Journal's lasvegas.com site.
