RENO -- Though the legal battles to stop the Jan. 30 implosion of the historic Mapes Hotel continue, the demolition crew is making plans to sell pieces of the downtown Reno landmark after the dust settles.
This week, Washoe District Judge James Hardesty refused a request by preservationists to block demolition work on the 52-year-old hotel-casino that has stood vacant for more than 17 years.
Officials on Wednesday said if all goes as planned, souvenir bricks from the Mapes will be available after demolition for $1 each.
