PHOENIX -- A new Indian casino in Northern Arizona is putting a heavy emphasis on family-oriented entertainment amenities.
The Cliff Castle Casino, owned and operated by the Camp Verde Yavapai-Apache Community, features four restaurants, four bars, a 20-lane bowling center, a video arcade and a child-care center, the Arizona Republic reported.
Located about 80 miles north of Phoenix, the 114,000-square-foot casino opened late last month and will have a formal grand opening Saturday. It has far more amenities than the tribe's older casino, which opened in 1995.
Tribal casinos are starting to broaden their offerings at casinos, with such features as golf courses, luxury rooms, bowling alleys and movie theaters, said Dave Palermo, editor of Indian Gaming Business magazine.
"You have to offer more than gaming," he said.
Cliff Castle is Arizona's 19th casino, with a state-mandated limit of 475 slots.
