Clevenger gets corporate development post

A former investment banking expert has joined MGC Communications Inc. to accelerate the company's digital subscriber line and Internet access markets.
S. Gregory Clevenger, a former investment banker with Goldman, Sachs & Co., and Morgan Stanley, has joined Rochester, N.Y.-based MGC as senior vice president of corporate development.
Clevenger, who helped engineer the $62 billion Ameritech-SBC Communications merger while with Goldman Sachs, will direct MGC's e-commerce strategy for business customers using DSL technology.
The company operates in Las Vegas, Southern California, Chicago, Atlanta and South Florida and until last year was headquartered in Las Vegas.
