Tahoe resort feels lack of snow

Homewood Mountain Resort has announced they now will only operate five days a week until they receive more snow. They will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
"Without additional skier and rider demand, we feel we'll see skier visit numbers at levels which just do not make operating on Mondays and Tuesdays feasible," said Jim Mitchell, resort general manager.
Homewood will continue to evaluate the situation and will reopen seven days a week once enough snow falls, he said.
The Tahoe snowpack stands at 20 percent of normal, but forecasters were calling for a chance of snow most of this week.
Homewood marketing director Collier Cook said the resort's numbers over the recent holiday period were "down a bit" from previous years.
Other Tahoe resorts reported similar declines because of the lack of snow.
